Carter County Times

King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC) department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine has issued a statement announcing free sports physicals for all student athletes between the ages of 13 and 19 beginning next month.

KDMC will be offering physicals at various local schools throughout the region, and setting up at both East Carter and West Carter on Friday, May 12.

The KDMC staff will offer physicals at East Carter in the morning, from 8:30 – 11 a.m., and at West Carter in the afternoon, from 1 – 2:45 p.m.

Student athletes are only allowed to receive physicals at their own school.

Makeup days will be offered at two King’s Daughters locations, on July 14, from 8 a.m. – Noon at the King’s Daughter’s Pavilion, 2000 Ashland Drive in Russell; and from 9 – 11 a.m. on July 21 at the KDMC Portsmouth Orthopedics office, 1729 Kinney’s Lane, Suite 102, Portsmouth, Ohio.

If athletes can’t make any of these free dates they may schedule an appointment in the Ashland office for a $25 fee, or visit their primary family physician.

Before receiving their physical, students and their parents or guardians must complete a sports physical form, in ink, with a parent or guardian signature. The forms are available online at KingsDaughtersHealth.com/SportsPhysicals.

Physicals will be performed by athletic trainers and orthopedic staff.

For more information call KDMC at (606) 327-0036 or (740) 351-0980.
