Ask Daryl – Your Professional Organizer: School days

Confusion Solution

It’s time, once again, to hit the books. Whether your kids are starting school for the first time or you are retired and decided to go back and take more classes, there are a lot of things to consider when preparing for that first day. There are clothes to buy, lunches to think about, school supplies to gather, and books to order. Plus, if you are getting ready to live in a dorm, storage is necessary to plan for since small spaces require special considerations. There is also arranging transportation. Who picks up who and when, requires coordinating schedules.
Include in your prep time for researching regulations and documentation, because schools vary in their requirements for registration. Then once you have everything purchased and signed, the year will begin at a startling pace. It can be exciting getting to know your way around and it’s fun to fill that new backpack, grab your bagged lunch, put covers on your text books, and find your seat in your first class.
There is so much to look forward to. So, enjoy this very special time of year. You will be making new friends, discovering the world you live in, and coming home each day with a new experience to share.
It’s as simple as that!
