Anna Griffey James

1932-2021

Mrs. Anna Griffey James, age 88, of Cincinnati, Ohio, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, formerly of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, at her residence. 

She was born June 17, 1932, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James and Ethel Williams Griffey.

Anna attended the Faith United Baptist Church and she retired from Cincinnati Bell as a Telephone Operator. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, shopping, traveling to Kentucky, watching T.V. shows, caring for her cats and spending time and caring for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George T. James; two brothers, Glen Arnold Griffey and James Griffey; and one sister, Geneva Griffey Duncan.

Anna is survived by one daughter, Regina James of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Thomas Craig James of Elsmere, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Crystal Krutzkamp (Ben) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jennifer Zigas (Caleb) of San Francisco, California; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Romie Griffey of Maysville, Kentucky; one sister, Loretta Faye Griffey Hamm of Mansfield, Ohio; life-long friends whom she loved dearly, Margie Young and Gary Willis; and her best friend Nola Marcum. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Pastor Ben James officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway U.S. 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Anna’s family will serve as pallbearers.
