Mrs. Betty Faye Wagoner Boggs Gearhart, age 91, of Bellville, Ohio, formerly of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at her daughter’s residence.
She was born October 23, 1931, in Elliott County, Kentucky, to the late Charlie Lee and Dephie Marie Hanshaw Wagoner.
Betty was a member of the Family of God and enjoyed singing gospel hymns. She enjoyed swinging on the front porch, watching Westerns, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who had a special place in her heart, laughing for hours and always ready to whip up a meal in no time; some of her favorites were blackberry dumplings and stack cake. When getting her hair done she would always say “Don’t make my hair flat, don’t want to look like a peeled onion”. One of her favorite pets was her poodle, Mimi.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 45 years, Jerrel Madison Boggs, and her second husband of 7 years, Lowell Gearhart; two sons, Ralph Jefferson “Buster” Boggs and Donald Keith Boggs; one son-in-law, James V. Dauis; two daughter-in-laws, Karen Denise Boggs and Rhonda Kay Boggs; one great grandson LJ Windom; one great great granddaughter, Hadley Hayes; three brothers, Gary Wagoner, David Wagoner and Donald Frank Wagoner; five sisters, Wandlene LeMasters, Maxine Harr, Geraldine Wagoner, Edith Cloteen Sparks, and Ruby Branham.
Betty is survived by three sons, Mark Edward Boggs of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Jerrel Randy Boggs of Sandy Hook, Kentucky and Tommy Curtis (Debbie) of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Freda Davis of Bellville, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Katherine Boggs Shepherd of Olive Hill, Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; one brother Charles Wagoner Jr. of Niles, Ohio; three sisters, Mary Lois Lunsford of Centerville, Ohio, Joyce Ann Lunsford of Westerville, Ohio and Nadine Lozier (Chuck Moore) of Mansfield, Ohio, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Michael G. Rogers and Brother Terry Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Boggs Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, and after 9 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
James Patrick Davis, Brent Boggs, Brandon Boggs, Tommy Boggs, Adrian Boggs, Nick Boggs, and Jared Boggs will serve as pallbearers.
Heath Boggs will serve as honorary pallbearer.
