Donald Owen Barker, age 97, of Grahn, Kentucky, went home to be with Lord, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Monday, April 8, 1929, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Willis and Sarah Knipp Barker.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the United Baptist Church for 33 years and served as a Deacon for 32 years. He enjoyed going to church, working in his garden, telling stories and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; four sisters and one son-in-law, Clinton Johnson.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Ella Katherine Carroll Barker; one son, Rick (Janice) Barker of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two daughters, Connie Sue Johnson of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Leashia (Steve) Duncan of Grahn, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren, Allison; Jason, Jessica, Melissa, Cassie, Adam; 4 great-grandchildren, Marli, Brooklyn, Maci, Jacob; one brother George Barker of Grahn, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Joe Ruley and Brother James Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans’ Cemetery in Grayson, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2026, and after 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2026, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
