Estill Bailey

1943 – 2023

Estill Bailey, age 79, of Olive Hill, KY went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2023 after a brief illness.  He was surrounded by his loving family and friends until the very end.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Patrick Eugene Bailey; one grandson, Jasper Grant Miller; three brothers, Marvin Bailey, Wayne Bailey, and Larry Bailey; and two sisters, Jearlean Bledsoe, and Jewell Garvin.

He is also survived by his son, Timothy Estill (Karen) Bailey; his daughter, Betsy Ellen Bailey (Kevin) Miller; his two precious grandsons, Timothy Matthew Bailey, and Elijah “Eli” Grant Miller; his precious granddaughter, Megan Elisabeth Bailey; two brothers, Sam (Kathy) Bailey, and Don (Sarah) Bailey; five sisters, Carolyn Bailey, Janice (Gene) Stevens, Gail (Pete) Adkins, Della Knipp, and Joyce (Mark) Matthews; and two sisters-in-law, Wilma Bailey, and Donna Bailey.

Estill was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Olive Hill.  He gave his heart to the Lord on April 14, 1978; he was ordained as a deacon on January 29, 1984.  He was a 1962 graduate of Olive Hill High School, and a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam in 1965/1966.  He retired from AK Steel in 2006 after 32 years of service.  Estill was a fixer of all things and loved classic cars, especially working on his ’57 Ford and his Mustang.  Yet, he was never happier than when spending time with his family and his dearly loved grandchildren.

Until the very end, he was a faithful servant of God, a loving husband, and an amazing father and papaw. The influence of a righteous man will endure.
