Evelyn Pregano

1940-2023

Evelyn Pregano was ushered into Heaven’s gates on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the age of 83. After several years of living with Lymphoma, Evelyn passed peacefully with her beloved children nearby.

Evelyn was one of ten children, born in Olive Hill, KY on January 20, 1940, to Father Chester Stanley and Mother Mollie Burchett. In search of work, Evelyn made her way to Cleveland, Ohio where she met her late husband, Frank Pregano at the Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Together, in their strong faith, they raised their family in Ohio before relocating to Virginia where they lived for 36 years.

As a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Evelyn never stopped praying for her family. She raised her family to count on the Word of God, knowing that one day the family would be reunited in Heaven.

Evelyn enjoyed her career as a bus driver, from school buses in Ohio to city buses in Washington, D.C. She made friends everywhere she went, never missing an opportunity to be a witness to the Lord.

Evelyn was a Southern Bell, who took great pride in creating a beautiful home for her family. She loved fiercely and without reservation, sharing the gift of love with all those around her. Anyone who walked through her front door was treated like family. She valued the meaning behind a family meal and cooked from her heart. She loved to dress to the occasion, with jewels, hats, and bright colors. Evelyn’s bright smile and laugh were infectious; she loved to share her stories and laugh with those dear to her.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Frank Pregano, her son Ronald Lee Pregano, and her granddaughters Michelle and Danielle Pregano, her parents, her siblings, Lottie Bond, Ray Stanley, Oval Stanley, Alfred Stanley, Richard Stanley, and Tommy Stanley. She is survived by her children Sheila Schneider, Angela Knight, Giuseppe Pregano, Rosina Bergmann, Evelyn Franklin, Francesca Pregano, Lora Crowe and Kimberly Hass, 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and siblings, Faye Stamper, Arnold Stanley, and Jewell Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Sunday, Mach 19, 2023 at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky with Dr. Angela Knight. Burial will follow in the Burchett Dailey Cemetery.

Friends may visit after 10 a.m., Sunday, March 19, 2023 until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
