Everett Harold Patton

1945-2021

Everett Harold Patton, 76 of Olive Hill Kentucky, entered into rest July 10, 2021 peacefully at his home.  Everett’s faith was strong and personal with the Lord as was the love of his family whom surrounded him as he made his final journey.  He was born June 30, 1945, the son of the late John and Tempa Tabor Patton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and his mother-in-law Willie (Bill) and Vesta Brown Sparks; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Shirley (John) Creech, Virginia (Ernest) Burton, Coy Goodman and Marjorie Sparks.  He was also preceded in death by two special fur sons, Bud (12 and ½) and Hub Cap (14 and ½) whom will meet him at the Rainbow Bridge.

Everett graduated from Olive Hill High School and completed a year of Mechanical Drafting.  He retired from AK Steel where he led the crane in shipping for thirty-two years.  He is known for his love of cars, his mechanical skills and his ability to fix just about everything including carpentry, plumbing, and construction.

He enjoyed aggravating his grandchildren and spending time at his garage (Patton’s Auction Barn).  He enjoyed reading, especially magazines such as Hemmings Motor News, and his complete collection of Muscle Machines.  He loved his pond, woodland, and wildlife with a passion.  He enjoyed watching auto programs, Gunsmoke, westerns and educational programs on TV.  His favorite activities were attending swap meets and car shows with his wife or his lifelong friend Lawton “Bubby” Gabbard.

Everett was a man of strong will with a “Pit Bull” personality.  If he liked you, you knew it.  If he didn’t like you, you also knew it.  However, like a “Pit Bull” he loved kids and would keep pop on hand for the neighborhood boys who would drop by the garage, especially his cherished one, the late Bud John Rodgers.  Another special kid whom he watched grow up, treated as his own, and entrusted with the keys to his garage was Timmy Waddell.

Everett is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years (September 9), Martha Stella Sparks Patton; his daughters, Mary Leigh (Wes) Lewis, Eva Patton (Brent “Elmo”) Tackett; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Audrey Goodman of Newton Falls OH, Willie Sparks of McDonald OH, Lamar (Martha) Sparks of Niles OH, and William Flint (Rosa) Sparks of Cambridge OH; grandchildren, Wyatt Wesley Patton Lewis, Morgan Leigh Lewis, Tabor Elijah Tackett, and Emmett Patton Tackett; and many very special nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Dr. Maria Tirona and Dr. Scott Mitchell at The Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center and Leah Stinson for all you did and the love you shared.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 1PM with visitation at 11AM at the Duvall-Moore Funeral Home with Brother Rudy Reed officiating.  Interment followed in the Tabor Cemetery located on his farm.
