Janet Louise Carper Skaggs, age 84, of Olive Hill, Kentucky passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at her residence.
She was born Sunday, March 20, 1938 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Frank and Laura Messer Carper. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ray Skaggs and Veron David Skaggs; three brothers, Carl Carper, J.D. Carper and Bill Carper; one sister-in-law, Mary Carper; one grandson, Joshua Burnett.
In addition to her loving husband of 67 years, Robert Louis Skaggs, she is survived by one son, Bobby (Peggy) Skaggs of Grayson, Kentucky; one daughter, Mary (Mike) Burnett of Grayson, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two daughters in law, Toni Skaggs and Madonna Skaggs; three brothers, Mike (Elsie) Carper, Lovell (Debbie) Carper, Roger (Pat) Carper, all of Grayson, Kentucky; one sister, Shirley (Robert) Williams of Ashland, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Dottie Carper of Vanceburg, Kentucky.
Janet was a member of the Lower Grassy Church of Christ for 71 years and retired from the Carter County Board of Education. Janet enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, watching the UK Wildcats and spending time with her church family as well as her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the Grayson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky with Brother Chris McGlone and Brother Tom Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Family Cemetery in Grayson, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Grayson Funeral Home and Cremation Services and after 9 a.m. until the service hour Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Heath Burnett, Jason Skaggs, Maverick Burnett, Allie Skaggs, Brandon Skaggs and Ike Oakley will serve as pallbearers.
