Mildred Walker Sparks, age 83, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, at UK-St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sunday, June 29, 1941, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Ward Leonidas and Jessie Roe Walker.
Mildred attended Oakland Christian Holiness Church. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Pete Sparks; one son, Paul Sparks; five brothers, Jimmie Walker, Elmer Walker, Donald Walker, Erskine Walker, Phillip Walker; three sisters, Glenna Carroll, Syliva Tackett Dinger and Helen Middleton.
Mildred is survived by one son, Perry Sparks of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Lois Sparks of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one step-daughter, Janice Towers; 2 grandchildren, Brandi (Justin) Lawson, Shawn (Matthew) Krause; 2 step-grandchildren, Melissa Towers, Hugh Towers III; 3 great-grandchildren, Wade Lawson, Reid Lawson; 1 step-great-granddaughter, Katie Towers; one sister, Althea Middleton of Olive Hill, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother R.D. Porter and Brother Raymond Steagall officiating. Burial will follow in the Patrick Cemetery, in Carter County, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2024, and after 9 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2024, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
Justin Lawson, Donnie Walker, Marty Walker, Mark Walker, Wade Lawson, Mike Walker and Jon Walker will serve as pallbearers.
