Guy Donald Underwood, age 84, of Lawton, Kentucky, entered into rest, Thursday, November 21, at his residence.
He was born Sunday, February 4, 1940, in Lawton, Kentucky, to the late Paul and Pansy Taylor Underwood.
In early years, Guy served in National Guards. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later in the United States Navy as a Gunner’s Mate in the Vietnam War. He was an employee of Ashland Oil Marathon Petroleum for 37 years and after retirement he worked part time at Lowe’s. He enjoyed working in his wood shop and watching UK Basketball. Guy was a faithful friend of Globe Funeral Chapel, bringing hot chocolate several times a week to the girls in the office with a big smile and joke to brighten their day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald Underwood; one daughter-in-law, Rachael Underwood; one grandson, Derek Madison Underwood; four brothers, Rex Underwood, Charlie Underwood, Phillip Underwood, Glen Underwood and one sister, Betty June Holbrook.
Guy is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Ann Davis Underwood; one son Jerry (Chesla) Underwood of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Tammy (Tim) Molton of Berea, Kentucky, Julie (Rob) Jenks of Shawnee, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Underwood of Ona, West Virginia; 9 grandchildren, Aaron (Meagan), Brandon (Jess), Katie, Braxton (Shelby), Solomon, Kennedy (Ryan), Alexander, Taylor, Rhett; 1 great-grandson, Sawyer Guy; one sister, Judith Kay (James) Corbi; special friend, Donna Boggs; several nieces, nephews and relatives who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with special friend, Herbie Jones and Brother Tim Molton officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery on Mushroom Ridge Road in Lawton, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024, and after 9 a.m., Sunday, November 24, 2024, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
Jerry Underwood, Solomon Underwood, Alexander Underwood, Braxton Molton, Aaron Farley, Rob Jenks and Brandon Molton will serve as pallbearers.
William Waddell will serve as honorary pallbearer.
