Robert “Buster” Little, age 87, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, entered into rest, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by his family.
He was born Wednesday, July 14, 1937, in Lewis County, Kentucky, to the late James Little and Opal Jones Little Spence.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Rose Cline Little; four brothers, Sammy Little, Ernie Little, Luther Little and Paul Albert Little.
Buster’s father died when he was 16 and, as the oldest of 9 children, he cared for the farm and helped his mother raise his siblings. He enjoyed working and worked hard his entire life. He worked on road construction for many years and proudly built the first few miles of I64 in Kentucky. He was very loved by his family and well respected by all those he worked with. He was always happy to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He was the best fishing buddy, corn hole partner, wiffle ball teammate, and dodge ball opponent. He often helped care for his great-grandchildren, who he referred to as his “best buddies”. Buster loved the Lord and was a member of the Flat Fork Church of God for more than 50 years. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
Buster is survived by one daughter, Wanda (Donald) Burchett of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Charla Burchett, Kristin (Chase) Yarman and Kallie (Ryne, AKA Bryne) Callahan; four great granchildren, Karter, Carson, Cylas and Kassidy Yarman; two brothers, Clyde Little of Petersville, Kentucky and John (Kay) Little of Wallingford, Kentucky; two sisters, Bina Spencer and Wilma (Rusty) Evans both of Petersville, Kentucky; special niece, Trish Little and special sister-in-law, Wilma Cline., along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Flat Fork Church of God, State Hwy 1662, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Greg Kiser and Brother Steve Madden officiating. Burial will follow in the Logan Cemetery on Rose Ridge.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Flat Fork Church of God in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Chase Yarman, Ryne Callahan, Jeff Burchett, John Little, Preston Hall, Mike Greenhill and Luke Greenhill will serve as pallbearers.
Dwight Rayburn, Chelmar Rayburn and Donnie Boggs will serve as honorary pallbearers.
