Ronnie Edmon Thompson, Sr.

1946-2022

Ronnie Edmon Thompson, Sr., age 76, of Tulip Lane, Olive Hill, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022, at his residence.

Born February 25, 1946, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Estill Vernon Thompson and Anmary Burton Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Kay Hamilton Lyons; two infant siblings; and four brothers, Vaughn, Ralph, Lester, and Donald Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Clay Thompson; three children, Ronnie (Melissa) Thompson of Hillsboro, Angela (Billy) Rose of Ashland, and Steven (Lynn) Thompson of Morehead; eight grandchildren, Brandi Meek, Hunter Meek, Tyler Rose, Gavin Rose, Chase (Katie) Thompson, Debbie (Adam) Spencer, James Holbrook, and Amanda Kay Mulvane; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Other survivors include three brothers, Darrell (Beverly) Thompson, Eugene (Shelley) Thompson, all of Morehead, and Claude (Jackie) Bradley of Olive Hill; one sister, Betty Butler of Morehead; and several nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was a well-known logger and farmer who could operate any piece of machinery. He worked in the fields from daylight to dark. Ronnie enjoyed the great outdoors and loved passing time taking four-wheeler rides with family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Lands and Brother Ray Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery on Thompson Cemetery Road.

Pallbearers: Chase Thompson, Darrell Thompson, Tony Butler, Paul Clay, Gary Clay, Randy Cool, Joe Lawson, and Joe Burton.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
