Sandra Colleen Cook Spence Smith, age 82, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
She was born January 28, 1943, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Doff Cook and Marie Wilson Cook Jordan.
Colleen was a member of Globe Christian Holiness Church and loved going to church. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, working crossword puzzles, trips to the Smokey Mountains, working in her flowers, watching the red birds and spending time with her family
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, Marvin Spence; one son, Rick Spence; one infant brother, Boyd Cook and one sister, Sharon Helterbrand.
She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Paul Smith; three daughters, Risa (Nick) Elam of Morehead, Kentucky, Holly (David) Price of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Melinda (Josh) Reeves of Rowan County, Kentucky; three sons, Tony (Debbie) Smith, Keith (Sherri) Smith, William Smith all of Elliott County, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Tyler Spence, Sasha Hart, Kayla Stamm, Taylor Roe, Spencer Price, Sophie Price; nine great-grandchildren, Autumn, Bentley, Ledger, Lily, Quincy, Lincoln, Ross, River, Avery; one brother, Fred Lane (Pauletta) Cook of Vanceburg, Kentucky; one sister, Jenny Hope Hawes of Simpsonville, Kentucky along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Tim Byrd, Brother David Rayburn officiating and special comments by granddaughter, Kayla Stamm. Burial will follow in Bowen Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2025, and after 9 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
Tyler Spence, Taylor Roe, Spencer Price, David Price, Keith Smith and Tony Smith will serve as pallbearers.
Nick Elam, Sophie Price will serve as honorary pallbearers.
