Mrs. Shirley C. Virgin Gifford, age 85, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Friday, May 7, 1937 in Greenup County, Kentucky, to the late Harry Lee and Martha Hicks Virgin.
Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky. She enjoyed reading, going to fellowship at the senior citizens gatherings; she was an avid UK Basketball Fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Earl Gifford; two daughters, Phyllis Gifford McHone, Carolyn Gifford Burchett; one grandson, Bradley Davis; two granddaughters, Katrina Elkins, Elizabeth Smith and one brother, Ralph Virgin.
Shirley is survived by three sons, Richard Lee (Jennie) Gifford of Walhala, South Carolina, Jerry (Glenna) Gifford of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Kenneth (Roxanna) Gifford of Montpelier, Ohio; two daughters, Deborah Hardin of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Mary Elkins Brice of Olive Hill, Kentucky; seventeen grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandson; one brother, Doug Virgin; one sister in law, Virginia Virgin; seven nieces and nephews, along with her church family and many special friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, September 26, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Roger Cline and Brother Landon Copley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oldtown Cemetery in Oldtown, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2022 and after 9 a.m. until the service hour on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Globe Funeral Chapel Kentucky, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Michael Gifford, Matt Gifford, Jason Elkins, Isaiah Nease, Ben Dues and Justin Henninger will serve as pallbearers.
