As April has turned in to May, it’s been a unique and, at times, bittersweet moment for high school seniors.
At the East Carter High School tennis courts on Friday May 6, three senior players were honored for participating in the program.
During their tenure with the Raiders, seniors Wilson Tomaselli, Tanner Osborne, and Lane Moudy were a part of two championships, including Boys Team Western District Runners-Up (2017) and Boys Team Western District Champions (2018).
In tennis action, East Carter fell to Boyd County.
Karli Boyd was defeated by Sydney Kinnel 6-3 (6-1) and Addison Bond lost to Sydney Ramey 8-0 in girls’ singles action.
Lady Lions duo Carli Mullins and Maggie Lowe bested Andrea Ferguson and Emersyn Elliott 7-5, Av. Oney and M. Sexton were defeated by Emma Sparks and Ellie Caldwell, and Emma Perkins and Addison Bond lost to Ayden Pack and Alivia Evans 8-1.
In boys singles play, Colin Combs fell to Ben Rose 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), while Lane Moudy picked up the lone Raider win by defeating Alex Lawson 6-0 (6-4).
Raider duo Tanner Osborne and Wilson Tomaselli lost to Dillon Amos and Ethan Parsons 7-5 (6-0), and Jacob Sherrard and Aiden Bledsoe handed Maverick Boyd and Cameron Stanton 6-0 (6-1).

The 16th Regional tournament began on Monday, May 15 at Ashland Tennis Courts.
Osborne and Tomaselli entered the competition ranked fifth in doubles play.
“This is the ninth year in a row that East Carter has received a seed for having some of the best players in the region,” said coach Jeffrey Porter.
