The East Carter High School boy’s tennis squad had a good outing on Thursday when they beat Rose Hill 5-1 on the Ashland Tennis Center courts. After a tough loss to Russell on Monday, April 24 the Raiders found their rhythm against the Royals moving to a 5-4 record for the season.
In singles action, East Carter’s Tanner Osborne bested Hans Lucas 6-4, Wilson Tomaselli defeated Koen Hensley 6-0, Lane Moudy took a 6-1 win over William Swimm and Jacob Sherrard handed Kadyn Perkins 6-0.
In doubles play, Raider duo Tanner Osborne and Wilson Tomaselli defeated H. Lucas and K. Hensley 6-3 while Rose Hill’s W. Swimm and Alex Tylor took a 6-3 win over Jacob Sherrard and Aiden Bledsoe.
Lady Raiders fall to Lady Royals
The Lady Raiders are now 4-5 for the season after a loss to the Lady Royals.
In singles play, Karli Boyd defeated Jewel Stanley 7-5, while Andrea Ferguson lost to Lakin Deerfield 6-0, Isabel Hensley bested Emersyn Elliott 7-5, and Addison Bond fell to Gisselle Diaz 6-4.
In girls’ double action, Andrea Ferguson and Emersyn Elliott lost to Abi Justus and Isabel Hensley 6-0 and Carmen Calloway, and Jewel Stanley defeated Emma Perkins and Addison Bond 6-0.
The Raiders and Lady Raiders return to the court on Friday for 62nd District action against Morgan County.
