The East Carter High School boys’ and girls’ tennis teams faced tough competition in regional action against the Raceland Rams on Tuesday, May 2.
The Lady Raiders picked up a 6-3 victory while the Raiders shut out the Rams with a 4-0 win.
In girls’ singles action, the Lady Raiders won four of six matches.
Andrea Ferguson defeated Emma Newland 6-3, Megan Sexton bested Chasity Thomas 7-6 (7-3), Emersyn Elliott handed Gracelynn Sammons 6-2, and Karli Boyd defeated Delaney Whitt 6-2 to earn wins for East Carter. While Elanor Stevens bested Anna Oney 6-4 and Naomi Maynard topped Ava Oney 6-0 to earn wins for Raceland.
The Lady Raiders won two of three double encounters, Andrea Ferguson and Emersyn Elliott beat N. Maynard and D. Whitt 6-0 and Ava Oney and M. Sexton defeated Lexi McCoy and Chasity Thomas 6-0, while Emma Perkins and Addison Bond fell to Raceland’s Emma Broughton and Grace Gartin 6-2.
In the Raider’s lone single match, Lane Moudy defeated Austin Meadows 6-0.
In doubles action, Tanner Osborne and Wilson Tomaselli topped Logan Landy and Tulan Stanley 6-0.
