Lola Ramona Sparks Scaggs

1935-2021

Lola Ramona Sparks Scaggs passed away Friday, March 19, 2021, at the Community Hospice Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

She was born November 1, 1935, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Morton Chief Sparks and Esta Mae Dyer.

Lola was a member of the Soldier Church of God and enjoyed going to church, singing, cooking, and caring for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston “Talby” Scaggs.

Lola is survived by two sons, Leroy Scaggs and Roger Scaggs, both of Olive Hill, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Lee Scaggs (Tina), Jennifer Hulett (Dustin), Debra Herdt (Frankie), Roger Scaggs (Justine), and Ashley Scaggs; 14 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Clifford “Tippy” Price and Brother Gayle Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Scaggs Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky. 

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Michael Scaggs, Roger Scaggs, Trent Henderson, Roger Dale Scaggs, Leroy Scaggs, and Michaela Kiser will serve as pallbearers. Preston Stilton, Eric Scaggs, Anthony Scaggs, and Avery Hulett will serve as honorary pallbearers.
