Mr. Virgil Ray Tackett, age 81, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, March 18, 2021, at his residence.
He was born April 1, 1939, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Andrew and Emma Easterling Tackett.
Virgil was a born again Christian and of the Christian Holiness Faith. He enjoyed going to church, hunting, being outdoors, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Tackett, Arnold Martin Tackett, and Billy Tackett, and three sisters, Phyllis Kiser, Rosalene Sturgill, and Sharon Tackett.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Bocook Tackett; two daughters, Brenda Wilson (Mike) and Sherry Tackett, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Dwayne Burton (Jessica) of Frankfort, Kentucky, and David Harris of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one great granddaughter, Larissa; one brother, Larry Joe Tackett (Bonnie) of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three sisters, Wilma Jean Leadingham, Cathy Kiser (Pat), and Shirley Conn (Sam), all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and one brother-in-law, Edwin Kiser of Olive Hill, Kentucky. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Randy Binion officiating. Burial will follow in the Tabor Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021, and after 9 a.m. on Sunday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Brent Tackett, Shane Kiser, Chris Kiser, Joe Garvin, Ted Estes, and J.D. Hignite will serve as pallbearers. David Harris will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
