OLIVE HILL, Ky. — Carter County native and country music performer Tristen Moore has reached a major career milestone, surpassing one million combined Facebook reel views in just 20 days.
Although Moore’s artist page existed previously, it had received limited attention until his August 8 appearance at the Small Town America Festival in Mt. Sterling, where he placed second in the event’s singing competition.
The following day, Moore performed at the Hot Dog Depot in Olive Hill. Videos shared following those appearances quickly began attracting viewers throughout Eastern Kentucky and far beyond the region.
Between August 8 and August 28, Moore’s reels accumulated approximately 1,001,400 combined views.
“I honestly never imagined that more than a million people would watch videos of me singing, especially in such a short period of time,” Moore said. “I am grateful to everyone who watched, shared a video, left a comment or followed my page. The support has been overwhelming.”
Moore’s broader Facebook analytics have also reflected the rapid growth. During the latest 28-day reporting period, his page generated more than 1.3 million total content views and over 110,000 engagements, including approximately 32,500 reactions, 2,500 comments and 1,750 shares.
His audience has grown to more than 8,300 followers, with nearly 99% of new follows attributed to reels. More than 90% of the page’s views came from people who were not already following Moore, demonstrating that his music has reached well beyond his original audience.
While most viewers are located in the United States, Moore’s performances have also reached people in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and South Africa. His leading local audiences include Olive Hill, Morehead, Huntington, Ashland and Grayson.
“It means a great deal to know that so much of this started close to home,” Moore said. “I am proud to be from Olive Hill and Carter County. No matter where music may take me, this area will always be home, and I hope I can make the people here proud.”
Moore, 23, is an Olive Hill native who currently resides in Huntington, West Virginia. He began singing as a child and developed his voice through church, karaoke and live community performances. His musical style combines traditional country influences with elements of Americana.
His recent rise began August 3 when he placed second at the Blackberry Ramble in Olive Hill. Seven weeks later, he earned second place at the Small Town America Festival. Judges at the Mt. Sterling competition reportedly indicated that Moore could have won had he performed with a live band or accompanied himself on guitar.
Moore has so far built his growing audience without the support of a record label or national promotional campaign. His momentum has come primarily through live appearances, social media and supporters sharing his performances.
“This milestone gives me even more motivation to keep working, improving and seeing how far I can take this,” Moore said. “One million views is something I will never forget, but I hope it is only the beginning.”
Efforts are underway to identify original songs suited to Moore’s voice and musical style, pursue professional recording opportunities, develop sponsorship relationships and expand his schedule of live performances.
