I have a little magnet on the fridge that says, “It is a good day to have a good day!”
Psalm 92:1-3 says, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: to shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.”
If I see someone today at the grocery store and say, “Hi, how are you today?” They may say, “I’m doing great! How are you?” I might reply, “I’m doing well, thanks for asking. Have a great day.” They may answer in return, “It’s a good day to have a good day.”
We so often see people daily, and this is a common quick conversation in passing. It is pleasantries which are nice but very surface based, nothing deep at all.
You have an unexpected bill that needs to be paid very soon knowing there is no extra money this month. But you take that need to the Lord in prayer. The next day at work your manager comes to you and asks if you can work overtime this week. That conversation with your manager will be different than the pleasantries. You will thank that manager several times expressing how grateful you are to get the overtime. Your heart is thankful, and you have a spring in your step and a smile on your face. You are happy and the manager is happy. You thank the Lord for answering your prayer. Giving thanks to the Lord for an answer to prayer is a good thing no matter how big or how small.
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord. As you look around each day at the problems others are facing, whether it is sickness, loss of a job, etc. pause and think of what you have and you will find something that you can give thanks for.
That might be going wrong but hey, this is going well.
We can focus so much on what is wrong and forget the other one hundred things that are going well. Maybe that arm has being hurting but you have two good legs, and you can walk. Thank the Lord that you can walk and that your arm will get better. A grateful heart and an attitude of thanks is good medicine for the body and spirit.
That, my friend, is what I call “thanks living”. Being thankful every day, in everything in our lives. The Bible says in Psalm 92:1-2 “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: to shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.”
You are living life every day and you must choose the mindset that it is a good day to have a good day. Tell yourself that it is a good thing to give thanks. Purpose in your heart that every day will be a good day to give thanks unto the Lord about something. Practice giving thanks every day and after a while, that one thing will lead to another and to another in giving thanks unto the Lord in all things. We should lose ourselves in adoring thanksgiving and find ourselves in thanks-living. Make it a lifestyle! AMEN. SO BE IT.
