Mrs. Deborah “Deby” Diane Williams Knipp, age 72, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Community Hospice Care Center, in Ashland, Kentucky.
She was born February 2, 1952, in Marion, Ohio, a daughter to the late Vernon Williams and Jean Terry Newman.
Deby proudly served her country in the United State Air Force.
Deby liked being involved in her children’s life. From Girl Scouts Leader, cheerleading leader, baseball concessions and fundraising sales to volunteering at school. She had a love of cooking and took pride in her cooking. She loved working with the public at Jr. Foodmart and at Super America. She truly enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone who came in. She cherished the friendships that she made while working there.
Shirley Danner and Jill Snodgrass were her lifelong best friends. They all became best friends in fourth grade and never lost the loyalty and love that goes with having a best friend.
She loved reading and doing ancestry.com family tree. Anyone who knew her, knew how much she absolutely loved and adored Elvis Presley. To her, he was the only singer. She also thought that he was a gorgeous man. Deby enjoyed family get togethers and seeing those that lived far away. The love of family and friends were very important to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George Russell Knipp Jr.; one son, George Russell “Rusty” Knipp III and one brother, Vernon Williams.
Debbie is survived by one son, Zack Knipp of Lexington, Kentucky; one daughter, Katrina (Matt) Mitchell of Ironton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Austin Mitchell, Wade Mitchell, Taran Knipp, Emma Mitchell and Andrew Knipp; five great grandchildren, Aubree Sparks, Kylinn Robles, Apollo Robles, Athena Rodriguez and Isadora Rodriguez; four brothers, Terry Williams, Bob Newman, Jerry Newman and Tom Newman; five sisters, Dana Moore, Sue Kitchen, Deby Newman, Velma Williams and Vivian Williams.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Darryl Garvin officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky and after 9 a.m. on Saturday until the service hour.
Military Honors will be conducted at the graveside by Olive Hill American Legion Post 138.
Chaston Knipp, Rick Brown, Bob Newman, Corey Mills, Conner Mills and John Sparks will serve as pallbearers.
Chester Knipp, Tom Newman, Jerry Newman, Billy Newman, Terry Williams, Andrew Knipp, Wade Mitchell and Austin Mitchell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
