Mrs. Dorothy Fannin Maynard, age 96, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Ashland, Kentucky.
She was born March 25, 1927, in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late Esner and Dessie Florence Riley Fannin.
Dorothy was a member of Heritage Freewill Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio for many years and later moved to Olive Hill and became a member of the Olive Hill Wesleyn Church where she served as a member for 4 years. She was always the first one to offer help to anyone in need. Even as a widow, she invested in a van so she could take her friends to church on Sunday. Her faith in God was always an inspiration that helped her to give encouragement to everyone. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling and visiting with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William Carroll Maynard; one son, Douglas Keith Maynard; one sister, Mary Inez Perry Cooley.
Dorothy is survived by one sister, Norma (Bob) Hoptry of Greensburg, Indiana along with many other nieces, nephews and family members who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Tim Stout officiating. Burial will follow in the Stamper Cemetery at Emerson, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
Dorothy’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
