Robert Earl Woods II, known fondly to friends and family as “Rob” went to be with his father, Robert Earl Woods, and his grandmother, Audrey “Sudie” King, on the morning of Sunday, May 14, 2023. Only 33 years old, Rob passed away from a pulmonary embolism at his grandfather’s home in Ashland, Kentucky. Rob accomplished a lot in his short life. In 2012, he received a Chemical Engineering Degree from the University of Kentucky. After graduation, he worked as a head chemical engineer in the oil fields of Texas City, Texas. An intellectual and avid learner, Rob taught himself computer languages and coding. His latest venture was founding his own coding company. Rob is survived by his mother, Mindy Woods-Click, his sister Elizabeth Woods, grandfather Dr. Malcolm H. King, his stepfather, Dan Click along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rob’s love for his friends and family were as big as his stature and he will be dearly missed by many. A celebration of his life was held for family and friends on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Bellefonte Country Club. Rob was passionate about education and was deeply touched by special teachers in his life. In his memory, please donate to the Carter County Public Library Friends group or to the King Family Fund (an endowment fund created to benefit the Grayson Gallery & Art Center, Inc. and the Carter County Public Library) to: Foundation for the Tri-State at PO Box 2096, Ashland, KY 41105.
