Mr. Glen Alfred Wilburn, age 91, of Grahn, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 17, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Saturday, June 20, 1931, in Grahn, Kentucky to the late Rube and Ollie Kiser Wilburn.
Glen retired from General Refractories Brickyard in Hitchins, Kentucky with 37 years of service. He was also a truck driver hauling coal and gravel to many in the area for over 65 years. Glen was a member of Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church. He loved his family and his church and enjoyed fishing and chewing his tobacco.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Tony Randall Wilburn; eight brothers, Ernest James, Roy James, Bee Wilburn, Clifford Wilburn, Bifford Wilburn, Gene Wilburn, Jack Wilburn, and Burl Wilburn; five sisters, Angie Nunnemaker, Nora Rice, Lee Lowe, Avis Paynter and June Waugh.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Arlene Barker Wilburn; four sons, Jerry (Brenda) Wilburn, Timmy (Kim) Wilburn all of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Daris (Debbie) Wilburn and Van Wilburn all of Grahn, Kentucky; five daughters, Sharon Valandingham of Grahn, Kentucky, Alice Waggoner of Fairborn, Ohio, Cathy Carroll, Ella Mae (Tony) James and Leona (Doug) Steagall all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, Chloe Carroll, Kendra Vanlandingham, Ava Roar, Sadie Roar, Nathan Waggoner, Nora Waggoner, Caitlyn Bledsoe, Ethan Bledsoe; one sister Barbara Wilburn of Olive Hill, Kentucky, along with many nieces, nephews and many other family members, church family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2022 at Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Grahn, Kentucky with Brother Gary Sparks, Brother Joe Foltz and Brother Jimmy Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Carter County, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Grahn, Kentucky.
His grandsons, Leo (Karen) Valandingham, Rob (Megan) Roar, Wes (Kat) Waggoner, Jason (Brandi) Carroll, sons in law, Tony James, Doug Steagall will serve as pallbearers.
His granddaughters, Carla Valandingham, Amanda (Dave) Wilburn, Gina Vanlandingham, Kristen (Chris) Bledsoe and Tara (Matt) Dollar, will serve as honorary pallbearers.
