James Elwood Easterling, age 83, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his daughter’s residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 29, 1938 in Carter County, Kentucky to the late John Easterling and Lucy Meade Easterling.
James was a member of Mountain Top Chapel where he was a Deacon. He was a local businessman and a lifelong logger. He loved going to church, singing gospel music and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Maesceen
Greenhill Easterling; one son, Harold Easterling; one grandson, Christopher Wayne Conn; two brothers, Johnny Easterling Jr. and Billy Easterling; six sisters, Opal Stevens, Geneva Bryant, Mary Debord, Kate Hedge, Phyllis Easterling, Virginia Easterling.
He is survived by one son, James Ray (Loretta) Easterling of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two daughters, Peggy Sue (Gary) Conn of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Tama Easterling of Grayson, Kentucky; fourteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Phyllis) Easterling and Bobby (Rita) Easterling both of Olive Hill, Kentucky and two sisters, Joyce Jones and Judy Conn both of Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Mike Bryant, Brother Jeff Roe and Brother Roger Greenhill officiating. Burial will follow in the Easterling Debord Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel at 17277 West US Hwy 60 in Olive Hill, Kentucky and after 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 until the service hour at the funeral home.
Jimmie Easterling, Justin Easterling, Jimmy Carpenter, Gary Dale Conn, Corey Frasier, Tony Easterling will serve as pallbearers.
Jason Easterling will serve as honorary pallbearer.
