Mr. John David “J.D.” Johnson, age 57, of Owingsville, Kentucky entered into the Heavenly Gates on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at St. Joe Main Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 23, 1965 in Boyd County, Kentucky, the son of John Johnson of Alliance, Ohio and the late Vida Sue Johnson.
J. D. had a blessed career and held Supervisory positions, with the last one being for Bodycote Thermal Processing of Winchester, Kentucky. J.D. was a Christian and attended Henderson Branch Church. He loved classic cars, reading the Bible, watching wrestling and history shows, spending time with all his family and most of all, he loved and was so proud of Lena and his children.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Ava Mae Lane Johnson.
In addition to his father, J. D. is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Lena Johnson; one son, John “J.J.” (C.J. Long) Johnson with twins, Harper and Kennedy Johnson on the way, of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Kaylee Johnson of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one brother, Dwayne Johnson of Alliance, Ohio; special cousins, Taylor Pierce and Katrina Pierce Khan of Winchester, Kentucky; his faithful companions, Smokey and Shadow; along with many other family and friends that will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 US Hwy. 60 West, Olive Hill, Kentucky with obituary reading by Katrina Pierce Khan and Brother Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023 and after 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Dwayne Johnson, Noah McKenzie, Tracy McKenzie, Taylor Pierce, Phillip Johnson and Jordan Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
