Lou Ella “Ellie” Porter Thompson, age 79, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, at her residence.
She was born January 11, 1946, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Paul and Arlene Goodan Porter.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, going to yard sales and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Richard “Dicky” Thompson; two sons, P.R. Thompson, Scotty Thompson; two grandchildren, Brittany Renee Thompson, Scotty Ray Thompson Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Adley Rae Thompson; three brothers, Curt Porter, Junior Porter, Ray Porter; three sisters, Wanda Manning, Trish Stamper and Martha Thomas.
Ellie is survived by two sons, Dwayne (Andrea) Thompson of Victoria, British Columbia, Bobby (Debbie) Thompson of Olive Hill, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren, Elise, Katie, Jared, Stephanie, P.J., Brenna, Chloe, Joe, Macie; 15 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Lainey, Tanner, Rowen, Wren, Lake, Lakyn, Scarlett, Lennon, Henry, Moxon, Hollyn, Lola, Cameron, Millie; one brother, John Paul Porter of Tulsa Oklahoma; two sisters, Bonnie Thompson, Sue (Terry) Dean all of Olive Hill, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2025, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother David Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in Porter Cemetery #1 on Goodan Creek.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2025 and after 9 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2025, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel
Joey Thompson, Cody Carter, Cameron Carter, Donnie Waddell, Adam Marsh, Chris Porter and Shannon Craig will serve as pallbearers.
