Madonna Kaye Baker Kovi, age 84, of Grayson, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Carter Nursing and Rehab Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 14, 1941, in Grayson, she was the cherished daughter of the late John T. and Bessie Juanita Bradford Baker.

Madonna’s life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to family, education, and community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald C. Kovi, her stepson, James Kovi, and her siblings: Johnny Lee Baker, Rosemary Baker Messemore, and Rosemarie Baker.

A proud graduate of Morehead State University, Madonna devoted her career to serving others. She retired from the Kentucky Department of Social Services and the Carter County Board of Education, where she made a lasting impact as a clerk and substitute teacher. Her passion for education and nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless students and families in her community.

Madonna was a member of the Bagby United Methodist Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. She had a profound love for reading, often losing herself in the pages of a good book, and she cherished the quiet moments spent with her family and friends.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, survived by her three daughters: Brandy (PR) LeMaster, Toni (Tim) Jobe, and Marie Kovi, all of Grayson. She is also survived by her sister, Venus Angela Counts of Grayson; seven grandchildren: Shelbi (Richie) Thomas, Ryleigh Jobe, Drew McGuire, Karli LeMaster, Blake Kovi, Derek Justice, and Nicholas Leadingham; two great-grandchildren, Nate Thomas and Max Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will deeply miss her presence.

Funeral services to honor Madonna’s life will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Malone Funeral Home, with Bro. Barrett Bush officiating. Burial will follow at the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service hour.
