Vernon “Bunny” Duncan, age 83, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg, Kentucky.
He was born Tuesday, May 27, 1941, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Leslie and Myrtle Dehart Duncan.
Vernon loved spending time with his family, working and traveling. He owned Duncan’s Communications, a subcontracting, cable splicing company. Some of his favorite times were spent on his farm, building the cabin on his old home place.
He learned to love the sports of tumbling and trampoline because Christian competed/coached, Molly competed and both of his daughters coached. He and Jeanette always traveled to numerous states to support their family at competitions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Jeanette Boggs Duncan; two brothers, Virgil Duncan, Arnold Duncan; two sisters, Nora Mae Lawson and Eunice Hall.
Vernon is survived by two daughters, Vernetta Duncan Cole (Steve Cole) and Angela Barker (Jody Barker), all of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; 2 grandchildren, Stephen Christian Cole (Ashley Cole) of Lexington, Kentucky and Molly Barker of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; one great-granddaughter, Harper Reign Cole of Olive Hill, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with his grandson Christian, granddaughter, Molly and Brother Taylor Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 1 p.m., Sunday, January 19, 2025, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
John Lawson, Shawn Duncan, Taylor Johnson and Nathan Lawson will serve as pallbearers.
Christian Cole, Steve Cole and Jody Barker will serve as honorary pallbearers.
