Barbara Jean Skaggs Kilgore


Mrs. Barbara Jean Skaggs Kilgore, age 68, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Saturday morning, May 22, 2021, at her residence. 

She was born December 24, 1952, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Thurman and Opal Stone Skaggs.

Barbara attended Shady Grove Church of God and retired from Guardian Automotive Industries. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, helping her husband on the farm, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Skaggs and one sister, Vivian Skaggs.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 49 years, Wayne Kilgore; two sons, Christopher Wayne Kilgore of Morehead, Kentucky and William Shawn Kilgore of Elliott County, Kentucky; one daughter, Lesa Kilgore Dickerson (Chris) of Elliott County, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Megan Benda (Patric) of Palm Bay, Florida, Haley Dennis of Elliott County, Kentucky, Courtney Kilgore and Kaitlyn Kilgore both of Morehead, Kentucky; and two sisters, Linda Burchett (Dave) and Janice Barker (Rick) all of Olive Hill, Kentucky. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Steve Madden officiating. Interment will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery in Elliott County, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Larry Kilgore, Tim Bradley, Jamie McDaniel, Jordan Fannin, Keith Burchett, Rick Barker and Ricky Burchett will serve as pallbearers.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, we ask that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.
