Mr. Earsel Elwood Barker, age 85, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 3, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 14, 1937, in Carter County, Kentucky to the late James and Iva Barker Barker.
Earsel was a member of the Mountain Top Chapel Church of Jesus Christ, where he was a Deacon and Elder. He retired from General Refractories, Hitchins, Kentucky. He loved going to church, he and his wife loved visiting friends in the Hospital and in their homes, gardening, running heavy equipment and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Nicholas Bond; two brothers, James Barker, Jr. and Eury Barker and one sister, Marcella Wallace.
Earsel is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Frances Barker; one son, Jeff (Dana) Barker of Morehead, Kentucky; three daughters, Valeria Bond Tipton of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Vickie Johnson of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Marsha Perry of Olive Hill, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Shirley) Barker of Ashland, Ohio; along with many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Jeff Barker and Brother Roger Greenhill officiating. Burial will follow in the Barker Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2023, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.
Earsel’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
