Eula Gee Brown Stevens

1941-2022

Mrs. Eula Gee Brown Stevens, age 81, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022, at University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was born Friday, June 8, 1941, in Carter County, Kentucky to the late John Walter and Linnie Johnson Gee.

Eula was a strong Christian woman, whose roots were deeply planted in Christ. She was a long-time member of the Dry Branch Church of God, where she was loved and cherished by all who had the honor to know her. Her life was centered around loving others and she welcomed any and all into her warm home. Her loved ones will remember her as the true matriarch of the family – the one who brought everyone together and made sure that each person felt loved and important when they left. Eula believed that Kentucky Wildcat game days were their own special holiday and cheered on her team fiercely throughout the years. She collected UK memorabilia, much of which was given to her from her family and friends and displayed it proudly in her home. She loved teaching her grandchildren the game of Yahtzee and had a special knack for winning by a landslide. She was an avid reader, enjoyed tending to her glorious flower beds, and she rarely missed an episode of her favorite evening game shows. She was a master at puzzles and anyone who visited while she was working on one was invited to help and place a few pieces. Her home was the gathering place for many. Regardless of where you came from, or where you were going, you were welcome in her home. Her laugh was contagious, and her sense of humor was unmatched. She instilled such kindness and generosity in her children and beamed with pride when anyone would speak of them. She will be missed by so many, but especially by her family. Eula was truly an angel here on Earth, and she is now our Angel in Heaven – a Heaven made just for her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 24 years, Vernon Brown and her second husband of 36 years, Buell “Buck” Stevens; one son John Brown; one daughter, Kimberly Brown; six brothers, Emmitt Gee, Russell Gee, Louie Gee, John “Dub” Gee, Denver Gee, Franklin Gee and one sister, Melissa Gee.

Eula is survived by two sons, Vernon “Doug” (Jana) Brown of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Craig (Teresa) Brown of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three daughters, Teresa (Jimmy) Douglas of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Beverly Ann (Darrell) Thompson of Morehead, Kentucky, Kim (Charles) Roe of Olive Hill, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, George (Carol) Gee of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Connie Lefebvre of Olive Hill, Kentucky and Olive Merckle of Arizona along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
