Mrs. Evena Marcum, age 83, of Grayson, Kentucky, passed away September 30, 2023, at King’s Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Thursday, April 25, 1940, in Wilsondale, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Jesse and Martha Ferguson Marcum.
Evena was more than just a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was the glue that held her family together. You could always find her on Wednesdays doing her favorite thing, shopping for clothes, shoes and jewelry.
She spent most of her time in her beauty shop. She loved her church and her church family at Grayson Freewill Baptist Church. If you didn’t find her in her beauty shop, you could find her in her kitchen baking. She was an amazing cook and people from all around loved her desserts.
Traveling and seeing new places with her family is what she loved. She was always ready for her next adventure.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Arvel Marcum; one son, Brent (Tonya) Marcum of Grayson, Kentucky; one daughter, Donna (Frank) Cline of Williamson, West Virginia; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Amanda Perry of Kenova, West Virginia, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Grayson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky, with Brother Caleb Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in East Carter Memory Gardens, in Grayson, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2023, and after 9 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023, until the service hour at Grayson Funeral Home.
Brad Cline, Christopher Blackburn, Braxton Jarrell, Kason Smith, Joshua Marcum, Mike Kitchen and Don Griffith will serve as pallbearers.
