Judith “Judy” Burge Carte, age 78, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021, at her residence.
She was born February 16, 1943, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charlie and Bessie Lillis Kibbey Burge.
Judy lived in Flint, Michigan, for 25 years, where she raised her three children and was a retiree of General Motors. She had a great love for music with the ability to play the piano, organ and sing. Judy loved working in her yard and gardening. The highlight of her day was her daily drive through the back roads of the area she grew up and lived in.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Carte; five brothers, Steve Burge, W. F. Burge, Roscoe Burge, Charles ‘Skip’ Burge and Arnold Burge; and two sisters, Pauline Burge and Myrtle Burge.
Judy is survived by one son, Ned A. Lucas of Burton, Michigan; two daughters, Anita Scott of Burton, Michigan, and Krista Dailey of Ashland, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Bianca, Morgan and Tristan; five great grandchildren, Isabella, Jordyn, Zach, Paisley and Willow; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Elwood and Wanda Burge, Carl and Janet Burge, Ronnie Burge, and Bob Burge, all of Carter City, Kentucky.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Horsley Cemetery in Carter City, Kentucky.
