1938-2020
Mr. Luther “Luke” Mason Pennington, age 82, of Beetle, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 8, 2020, at his residence.
He was born July 29, 1938, in Beetle, Kentucky, a son of the late Estill “Eck” and Clara Marshall Pennington.
Luke proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a retired carpenter with Local Union # 472. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 626 for 50 years, Scottish Rite, Grayson VFW, and past commander of the Willard American Legion Post # 342. Luke enjoyed riding four wheelers, farming and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Slater Pennington; one son, Matthew Pennington; and two sisters, Clara Belle Pennington and Phyllis Jean Pennington Porter.
Luke is survived by one son, Bryan Pennington (Susan) of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Renata Rodgers (Lonnie) of Beetle, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Pennington (Cheryl) of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Johnny Pennington (Shelia) of Beetle, Kentucky; and two sisters, Janet Walker of Grayson, Kentucky, and Sue Baker (Ron) of Thornville, Ohio. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
A private graveside service will be held at Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the Eck Pennington Cemetery in Beetle, Kentucky, with Brother Tim Porter officiating. Full military honors will be presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post # 138.
