Marcella Ison Miller, age 91, of Olive Hill, KY, gained her wings Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:20 a.m. She passed peacefully in her sleep at her home.
She was born January 23, 1932, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Rev. George Dewey and Monnie Flannery Ison.
She was a retired cosmetologist, owned her own business, The Touch of Beauty in downtown Olive Hill for many years. After retiring, Marcella continued to enjoy her life as a homemaker, she loved to travel, bake, make candy, and entertain, especially her large family. For her, there was no place like home.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Olive Hill; The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 290, where she filled the role of Worthy Matron and all the star points. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Olive Hill and was a volunteer for St. Clair Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, David Shan Henderson, 2 grandsons, Matthew Keith Miller, and Shawn Ora Henderson, and 1 great-grandson, Joseph Chandler Seagraves, siblings John Ison, Aythel Ison Pence, Paul Ison, Ruth Ison Phillips, Dorothy Ison Lee and James Townsend Ison.
Marcella is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jackie Bee Miller of Olive Hill, KY; one son, George Keith Miller of Olive Hill, KY. and three daughters Jackie (Billy Joe) Rayburn of Olive Hill, KY., Elizabeth (Carl) Waits of Nicholasville, KY., Marca (Phillip) Budzenski of Carmel, IN., 8 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother David Rayburn and Brother Bob Donovan officiating. Burial will be in Garvin Ridge Cemetery, Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2023, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, and after 10 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023, until the service hour at First Baptist Church in Olive Hill.
An Eastern Star Service will be conducted for Mrs. Miller at 7 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2023.
