Nora Mae Duncan Lawson, age 87, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at her residence.
She was born Tuesday, September 3, 1935, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Leslie and Myrtle Dehart Duncan.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one son, Leslie David Lawson; one brother, Virgil Duncan; and one sister, Eunice Hall.
Nora Mae was the most selfless and generous person. Coming from the Christian faith, she lived her life knowing that God was walking next to her every step of the way. She loved the simple things, spending time with her family and friends first and foremost. She loved crossword puzzles and taking walks. She was always the hardest worker, spending 31 years at the Olive Hill Finishing Company and devoted her life to her children. She always put others first and herself last. She had a heart of gold and was the most special woman. She will be deeply missed by her family and beloved friends.
Nora Mae is survived by one son, John A. Lawson Jr., of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Della Mae Lawson Johnson of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Arnold Duncan of Lexington, Kentucky and Vernon Duncan of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; six grandchildren, David Brock Lawson, Felicia Hadden Lawson, John Nathan Lawson, Wesley Ryan Lawson, Taylor Johnson, Lindsay Morgan Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Lawson and Zachary Taylor Johnson, along with a host of other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2023 at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Phillip Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Gardens in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023 and after 9 a.m. until the service hour on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Globe Funeral Chapel Kentucky, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Christian Cole, Ryan Feilding, Phillip Lawson, John Lawson, Justin Lawson, Felicia Hadden Lawson, and Lindsay Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
John Nathan Lawson and Taylor Johnson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
