Mrs. Phyllis Jean Pennington Porter, age 78, of Beetle, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Dover Manor in Georgetown, Kentucky.
She was born May 20, 1942, in Beetle, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Estill “Eck” and Clara Marshall Pennington.
Phyllis was of the Christian faith and a lifetime homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques and listening to music, especially her grandsons playing the piano. Later in life, Phyllis and Jessie enjoyed traveling and just being together. She loved being a grandmother and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jessie James Porter and one sister, Clara Belle Pennington.
Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Kristina Fitzgerald (Martin) of Georgtown, Kentucky; two grandsons, Duncan Porter Fitzgerald and Connor Martin Fitzgerald; three brothers, Luther Pennington of Beetle, Kentucky, Charles Pennington (Cheryl) of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Johnny Pennington (Shelia) of Beetle, Kentucky; and two sisters, Janet Walker of Grayson, Kentucky and Sue Baker (Ron) of Thornville, Ohio. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at the Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, Kentucky, with Brother Daryl Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Eck Pennington Cemetery in Beetle, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2020, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, at the Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky 41143.
Rick Walker, Rock Walker, Robert Bragg, Tim Bragg, Troy Pennington and Michael Porter will serve as pallbearers. Duncan Porter Fitzgerald and Connor Martin Fitzgerald will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer Foundation.
