Mr. Ronald “Ron” Lee Lewis Sr, age 73, of Davenport, Florida passed away peacefully in his home, Saturday October 22, 2022, with his wife Terri and daughter Heather by his side.
Ron was born May 16, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Clyde & Ruth Lewis.
He attend Cleveland First Church of the Nazarene in Highland Hts, OH for many years prior to retiring to Florida in 2005. Ron worked as a machinist at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 32 (long) years.
Besides an all-you-can-eat crab leg buffet, his other hobbies included: NASCAR, NASCAR races, NASCAR events, collecting NASCAR memorabilia, especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr., NASCAR Magazines, NASCAR posters, & NASCAR figurines.
When not looking for more NASCAR things at swap meets or flea markets, Dad enjoyed fishing (even though he never caught anything), golfing (aka putt putt), visiting his favorite cabin in Bryant, Alabama where he enjoyed the quietness of no one bugging him (other than the usual wife stuff from Mom).
If there has been a desert made, he had tried it. Ice cream and chocolate topped the long list of treats he enjoyed (daily). Problem with a vehicle (or anything) with 4 wheels? He was the guy to fix it. Ron and Terri were in the process of building one of his dream retirement projects, a 1923 Ford C Cab.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; Clyde and Ruth Lewis, along with many Aunts and Uncles, his Father and Mother-in-law Alvin and Elsie Cox also his Brother-in-law William “Bill” Cox.
Ron is survived by his loving wife and caretaker Teresa Lewis of Florida, together for 40 years. Brother-in-law Art (Jeannette) Cox of Ohio, Sister-in-law Donna (late Bill) Cox of Florida. Son’s; Ronald Lewis Jr. of Ohio, Nicholas (Jessica) Lewis of Ohio, Michael (Amanda) Lewis of Ohio, Dustin Grein of Ohio. Step Sons; Ryan (Sarah) Anderson of Ohio, Eric (Sarah) Anderson of Ohio and Step daughter Heather (Jonathan) Mangoni of Ohio. 11 Grandchildren along with many many other family and close friends. Including his Florida “family” Steve & Alicia McMillian, Luis & Liz Appratto, Brian & Tina McClary.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Highway 182, Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022 until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Ron Lewis Jr., Nicolas Lewis, Michael Lewis, Steve McMillian, Jonathan Mangoni and Mike Pence will serve as pallbearers.
Art Cox will serve as honorary pallbearer.
